It was not the wedding they had originally planned, but it worked out perfectly for the Weipa-based couple.
“We were going to get married at Little Mulgrave in August last year but had to postpone due to COVID,” Nita said.
“In April this year, we were on the Archer and thought it would be a great place to get married and it all happened pretty quickly.
“This turned out really well and we couldn’t have done it without our friends and family, who put in so much work to make it happen.”
Wolverton Station is a Jackson family legacy and Nita said she felt blessed to get married on the land that had provided so much to her family.
Proud parents Kevin and Debbie were beaming with joy to see their daughter take her vows.
In a special tribute, Nita’s late brother Dillon was there in spirit, with a bark bar erected in his honour on the property.
Around 100 adults and 50 kids ran amok on the station, dancing until the wee hours.
The groom’s parents Helen and Paul made the trip up from Cairns, where Ben grew up.
They were married by Weipa celebrant Margie Berry.
